14-day birding and wildlife viewing adventure safari in Uganda is a fantastic way to explore the country’s rich biodiversity. Uganda is a birdwatcher’s paradise with over 1,000 bird species and is also home to a variety of wildlife. Within 14 days of birding safari in Uganda, you will visit Mabamba swamp, a renowned sight, Murchison Falls National Park the world’s most powerful waterfall, Budongo Forest, Kibale National Park a primate world, Semiliki National Park a birders haven, and Lake Mburo National Park. The activities to engage in this package are including a boat cruise, game drives, photography, and Icinga cultural experience. The trip starts and ends in Entebbe or Kampala.
This itinerary combines some of the best birding destinations in Uganda, allowing you to see a wide range of bird species, including rare and endemic ones. You’ll also have the opportunity to spot various wildlife species during your game drives and boat safaris. Remember to bring your birding equipment, including binoculars and a field guide, and we will pair you with an experienced birding guide to maximise your birdwatching experience. Uganda’s diverse landscapes and ecosystems provide a unique opportunity to explore both birds and wildlife in a single trip.

Day 1: Pickup From Entebbe International Airport
You will welcomed by your driver/guide for an ultimate 14 days’ birding vacation safari in Uganda, in the different corners of the country. With a rewarding experienced guide, you will be anchored with detailed information about Uganda the destination to be visited, and what to look out for at each passing time and day. Its optional you can ether have an overnight stay in Entebbe or head to Kampala, you will a city tour with an optional sights thrilling city tour around Kampala, after you shall return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Full day of birding at Mabamba bay wetland
After a delicious breakfast, you will exit to the lodge for a full day Birding adventure at Mabamba Swamp, a true bird’s haven, with a mixture of Kingfisher birds, the sought after shoebill stork and kingfishers among others. As you sail on the second-largest freshwater lake in the world, you enjoy the cool breeze, watch locals carry on with their daily chores, and the birds playing or feeding by the lush swamps, and papyrus trees, followed by lunch. At sunset, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park Via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Take your breakfast, join the driver/guide for a captivating 5-6 hours’ drive to Murchison National Park, with an en-route stopover for lunch break, and a one-hour Rhino tracking. They belong to Africa’s Big5 and are the only few still surviving in the country.​ Thereafter, the journey to the park proceeds, with late arrival in the park. You will check in at the lodge, take dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Morning Game and Afternoon Boat Cruise
You will start this day with a tasty cup of coffee, followed by a remarkable 3- 5 hours’ game drive through the savannah grassland in the northern sector of the park, hosting a profusion of prey and predators, birds, and primates among others.​ Some of the notable residents here include; the crested cranes, the Egyptian geese, elephants, several antelope species, buffalos, warthogs, and giraffes among others. Thereafter, you will return to have a lunch break, after which a 3-4 hour rewarding afternoon boat cruise follows; a perfect opportunity of watching several birds who spend their lives in water, such as the kingfisher, and the sought after shoebill stock. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Full Day of Birding Tour within Budongo Forest
Grab your breakfast, after you will depart the lodge with packed lunch for a full day birding experienced at Budongo Forest one of the few places on earth where you can find very giant mahogany trees. Of over 350 bird species residing here, be sure to uncover as many species as the eye can give, and eyes can contain like Hugli’s Francolin, blue breasted kingfisher, chocolate backed kingfisher, and the dwarf kingfisher among others. The sound and sights of avian species are remarkable and unforgettable, especially at the point when you are lost in capturing their appearance in the camera. At sunset, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Kibale forest national park​
After having a good time with the birds, waterfalls, and several mammals- prey and predators, you will great your intestines with a tasty breakfast meal, and then embark on a 6-7 hours’ drive to Kibale forest national park; Uganda primate world, but with an enroute lunch stopover in Hoima or Kagadi districts. The drive comes with amazing breathtaking views, several plantations, and many more captivating types of scenery. Upon arriving at your lodge late in the evening, you will enjoy a lip-smacking dinner and calm overnight stay.
Day 7: Birding in Kibale Forest, Isunga Cultural Community and Hike
After your breakfast, you will join other birders and the guide for briefing and document verification, followed by a 2-3 hours’ bird quest in Kibale forest; home to a profusion of birds both migrants and those endemic to the Albertine region. Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon Isunga Cultural Community Experience and top of the world hike. After catch the sunset signals a safe return home to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Semuliki National Park
You will start your day with a breakfast, followed by an early morning transfer to the park headquarters for registration and pre-trekking briefing, which commences at about 8:00 am. The park rangers will help you navigate through the Jungle, marked by rare tree species, and covered by the echoes of several bird species and primates. Tracking lasts for approximately 1-6 hours, plus one extra hour of closely watching the chimps, and taking as many photos as possible. Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for lunch and the transfer to Semliki national park; a true bird’s haven, with over 20% of Uganda’s unique bird species.
Day 9: Full Day Birding Experience
The day will start with a breakfast, and then a full day birding in a destination with over 60% of the countries bird species. Expect unforgettable sounds and appearances of several birds that you had never heard of or seen, residing at the swamps, riverbanks, and the lush forest. Nine hornbill species, Lyre-tailed honeyguide, spot-breasted Ibis, Sassi’s Olive greenbelt, Red-thighed sparrow hawk are some of the Nile residents.
Day 10: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Early in the morning, you will have breakfast, and then early morning game drive, to look out for the different mammals of your choice, such as the elephants, lions, leopards, warthogs, giraffes, and several antelope species among others. Afterwards, you will return and check out of the lodge after a tasty local Lunch meal and then drive to Lake Bunyonyi second Switzerland in Africa surrounded by over 27 unique islands, a good concentration of bird species. you will end this day with a delicious dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 11: Full day birding and canoeing experience
At sunrise, you will get a delicious breakfast and cup of coffee, followed by a full day birding experience, guided by an experienced park ranger. Over 250 birds’ species call it home and flip their wings with excitement of the cool breeze emanating from the lake one of the deepest in Africa. The canoe experience exposes one to several bird species, trees and the islands shielding the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 12: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After your breakfast early in the morning, and then embark on a scenic drive to Lake Mburo National Park one of the most rewarding safari adventure destinations in the country. There will be an en-route stopover at the equator for Lunch break and photography, before proceeding to the lodge for the final task of the day-dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 13: Game drive and Cultural encounter in Lake Mburo National park
Grab your breakfast in the morning before taking off, Followed by a 3-5 hours game viewing experience in the different corners of the park. Several antelope species such as the waterbucks, Uganda kobs, and the impalas among others are dominant, though the elephants, the long-horned Ankole cows, and buffaloes among others find pride in its palatable savanna grassland. Lunch break comes after the game drive, and then a remarkable Cultural encounter at Igongo Cultural Center a one-stop center for all the artifacts of the different cultures of western Uganda. The dances, songs, and stories offer the most perfect way to return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay
Day 14: Transfer back to Entebbe Airport or Kampala City
After waking up like the jungle of Africa, you will have a relaxed breakfast, followed by a departure for your next program or flight at Entebbe airport. You will have a remarkable lunch break at a stopover at the equator also to watch the experts demonstrate geographical events at the equator and photography, marking the end of your 14-day birding vacation safari tour in Uganda.
