A 14-days Rwanda Expedition Safari offers a comprehensive exploration of Rwanda’s diverse landscapes, wildlife, culture, and history. Over these 14 Days of Exploring Rwanda, you will spend two weeks in Rwanda discovering and exploring the country, Â the safari will take you to through Rwanda’s Wildlife in three National parks of Rwanda likely in Akagera National Park and to track mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. Expect to see Gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, Chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest National park, a variety of wildlife in Akagera National Park, Cultural visits, and genocide museums.Â

Day 1: Arrival Pick-Up And Transfer To Kigali city
On you first day of Rwanda safari, you will explore with us one of the safest and cleanest city in Africa depending on your arrival. In the morning after breakfast, your trip will start with a warm welcome by our tour driver/guides, who will be ready to show you around, just according to your wishes. The driver/guide will lead you to a must-see places and real insider spots. After some delicious snacks, your driver/guide will transfer you to Gizosi to visit the Genocide Memorial, a grim reminder of a senseless massacre of innocents lives in 1994. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide and how Rwanda has dealt with that past. We shall proceed with our tour and see the new developments in Rwanda. After lunch at one of the best restaurants in town, you can explore vibrant market scenes, some boutiques of the up-coming Kigali fashion scene, or an Art Gallery. On this first day you will already familiarize yourself with the diversity of this thriving country. After the day depending on your flexibility for Kigali night tour, your driver/guide will lead you back to your hotel or lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
After breakfast in Kigali at your hotel or lodge, you will warmly be welcomed and picked up by our driver/guide who will brief and travel with you throughout your adventure journey. Thereafter you will be transferred to Nyungwe National Park. You will have a lunch break and stopover at Nyanza palace for a tour of the kingdom palace which was a traditional home for Rwanda’s former kings. There will also have a stopover En-route to Nyungwe Forest National Park. On your arrival in the park, you will check in at your booked Lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk
Early morning breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for briefing. You will enter into the forest when its dark, but you will be able to see primate species such as Columbus monkeys, forest birds and later, you will be able to see the chimpanzees when its already daytime. Return to the lodge for lunch, you will set out for the guided forest walk within the Forest. Return to the lodge for dinner refreshment and overnight overnight stay.
Day 4: Forest Walk in Nyungwe National Park
On this day in the morning you will grab your breakfast, head out to meet your driver/guide with your packed lunch and proceed for a full day forest guided walk within Nyungwe Forest National Park. On this long walk, you will visit the Kamiranzovu waterfalls where you will enjoy your picnic lunch. On this walk expect to see a lot of bird species and also primates like monkeys among others. Return back to your lodge dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Kibuye on The Shores of Lake Kivu
After your early morning breakfast, you will proceed and check out of the lodge and head to Kibuye with lunch En-route and after taking a boat trip either Napoleon’s, Island or Amahoro (peace) Island. Later return to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Gisenyi Town
After breakfast, get transferred to Gisenyi town on the northern shores of Lake Kivu explorer the lake on a safari boat cruise ride. Lunch break, go and visit the fishing villages around the town, the solid field lava from Nyiragongo Mountain that erupted in 2002 and also the hot springs. Return to the lodge for dinner and Overnight stay.
Day 7: Safari Boat Cruise on Lake Kivu and Transfer to Volcanoes Gorilla National Park
In the early morning you will grab your breakfast, then later proceed and take a short safari boat cruise ride on Lake Kivu and visit the different fishing villages. Return for a fascinating lunch. After lunch, transfer to Ruhengeri town on the foothills of the Volcanoes National Park. You will pass through magnificent views of the beautiful, hilly countryside which forms Rwanda’s name a thousand hills. Thereafter you will return back to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After Breakfast you will grab your packed lunch, you will meet up with your driver who will transfer you to the park headquarters for a short tracking briefing, after that you will be paired in a group with a park ranger/guides for some note on how to behave while in the jungle searching for the Gorillas and also will let you know more about their behaviors and their ways of life before you set off. After you will proceed and enter into the jungle and search for these endangered rare mountain Gorillas. This is a once a life adventure and an opportunity one should never miss in life. The activity will take half or full day; therefore, you are advised to go with your enough water and tracking gears. Stay in the presence of mountain gorillas for a maximum of one hour and take photos for remembrance. Return to your lodge in the late evening for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Tracking Golden Monkeys and Visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
On this day of Exploring Rwanda Safari, you will wake up early to a morning breakfast and thereafter you will meet up with your driver/guide for a transfer to the park headquarters where briefing is done before heading out to the jungle to look for these endangered apes. At the briefing point, the park ranger/guides will teach you about the rules and regulations of the tracking activity after you will be paired in a group with armed ranger/guides who will lead you to the jungle as you search for these endangered apes. As you look for the golden monkeys in different parts of the park, you will meet with different park animals such as duikers, elephants, giant forest hogs, buffaloes, monkeys, and different bird species. Once you have spotted the golden monkeys, you will be given one hour to be around these golden monkeys, and during the period given you are able to learn about their habits, watch them do daily activities, and take photos. After spending 1 hour with the golden monkeys, you will head back out of the forest and meet your driver-guide ready to take you for lunch at your lodge, and when you are done you will drive to the Iby’Iwacu cultural village where you will meet different local people, get to see them do day to day activities, learn how they make handicrafts, taste their local food and get entertainment from local traditional dancers. Accommodation- Relaxation and overnight stay will be at your booked lodge.
Day 10: Mountain Bisoke Hike and Afternoon Relaxation
You will wake up early to a morning breakfast and thereafter you will meet up with your driver/guide for a transfer to the park headquarters where you will meet your hiking guides. After a short briefing from them, you will then start on your hike on Mountain Bisoke. It’s not such a big mountain and the hike to the top will only take 3 or 4 hours depending on the strength and fitness of the hikers. Upon reaching the top, you will then descend back and transfer to the starting point for relaxation. Return to lodge for dinner and Overnight stay.
Day 11: Transfer To Akagera National Park
You will wake up early to a morning breakfast, depart to Akagera National Park with en-route lunch break. On your arrival’ while on the journey you will have an en-route game drive, expect to see animal species like the Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, and so on. Thereafter you will proceed to the park lodge check-in. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 12: Morning Safari Game Drive And A Boat Cruise On Lake Ihema
Early in the morning grab your breakfast or take a packed one, and head out to meet up with your driver/guide who will take and give you a morning game dive experience to catch up with the park big five and the morning raisers. After taking a safari game drive in the park. Here you will spot a variety of animals like Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, hyenas among others. Afternoon boat ride on Lake Ihema to encounter large herds of hippos, crocodiles and a lot of bird species along the lake shores/banks. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 13: Walk The Line Tour And Evening Safari Boat Cruise
After your early morning breakfast at the lodge, your driver/guide will pick you up and transfer you to the park to participate in the walk the line tour which will give you the most rewarding safari experience led by the park ranger/guide who will take you on a walk at the top of the hill which will give you fascinating views of the park from all directions as you observe the different attractions in the park like the herbivores, carnivores and many other attractions. You will take another optional safari game drive in the park or visit the local communities around the park. Later return to the lodge foe refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 14: Hot Air Balloon And Transfer Back To the park
Wake up very early in this morning, you will meet up with your driver/guide who will drive you to the take-off area in kayitaba area of the park where you will be welcomed by staff who will take you through a briefing session as you watch how they prepares the hot air balloon for you, as you enjoy an early morning coffee and a snack after, you will be invited into the basket and the flight will be started. During the flight you will have exceptional views of the park as you watch the different herds of animals, unique water sources as you also take pictures for an amazing experience. After the experience you will be rewarded a certificate as appreciation for your participation in the activity. After your experience, your driver/guide will drive back to Kigali where you will be dropped off at a hotel of your choice or Kigali international airport in case you have a flight to catch back home.
