Day 1: Arrival Pick-Up and Transfer to Kigali city
On you first day of Rwanda safari, you will explore with us one of the safest and cleanest cities in Africa depending on your arrival. In the morning after breakfast, your trip will start with a warm welcome by our tour driver/guides, who will be ready to show you around, just according to your wishes. The driver/guide will lead you to a must-see places and real insider spots. After some delicious snacks, your driver/guide will transfer you to Gizosi to visit the Genocide Memorial, a grim reminder of a senseless massacre of innocents lives in 1994. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide and how Rwanda has dealt with that past. We shall proceed with our tour and see the new developments in Rwanda. After lunch at one of the best restaurants in town, you can explore vibrant market scenes, some boutiques of the up-coming Kigali fashion scene, or an Art Gallery. On this first day you will already familiarize yourself with the diversity of this thriving country. After the day depending on your flexibility for Kigali night tour, our driver/guide will lead you back to your hotel or lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Over this morning after you had breakfast, you will be picked up by our company driver/guide from either your hotel or lodge or maybe from Kigali International Airport, for a transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park in the south-west of Rwanda in Gisenyi province. En-route break to visit tour to the Butare Museum, Mirambi Genocide Site and Nyanza King’s Palace among others. Later proceed with your drive/guide to Nyungwe Forest National Park. On arrive you shall check in at the lodge which we had already booked for relaxation, dine and rest at the lodge.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
Upon rising in the morning, you will enjoy breakfast and head to Nyungwe Forest Park offices for morning briefing on the chimpanzee tracking expedition. With your tracking gear embark on this amazing exercise; where you will be rewarded with clear views of various primate species like L’Hoest’s monkey, golden monkeys, large troops of the Angola Colobus, vervet monkeys, Silver Monkey, Hamlyn’s Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkey, Olive Baboon and the Grey-cheeked Mangabeys etc. Later, you will have a lunch break in wild and in the afternoon, proceed with the Unique Canopy Forest Walk, which will reward you with an entire forest coverage with wild animals seeing you from above as you swing over the thick dense trees. Return to the lodge for refreshment, dine and stay overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Early in the morning, have breakfast at your lodge and check-out and later proceed hit the road for the transfer to Gisenyi province -home to Lake Kivu. Upon your arrival in the evening. You will relax and explorer the leisure experience at the beach. Later head to the lodge for dinner refreshment and overnight stay.
Day 5: Cultural Village, Gisenyi and Hot Springs
In the morning after you had breakfast, Morning Canoe Ride to the Islands on Lake Kivu later your driver/guide will meet you for your transfer to Gisenyi. Before reaching to the shores of Lake Kivu, the first highlight of the trip awaits you at Rwiza Cultural Village, where you will learn about various aspects of the rich Rwandan culture and heritage. Upon arrival in Gisenyi, you will first enjoy a delicious lunch at your lodge. Afterwards you will spend the afternoon to get to know the city of Gisenyi as well as the local hot springs, a natural phenomenon that impressively demonstrates the volcanic activity in the region. The water is enriched with quartzite and reaches temperatures between 70 and 75 ° C. Later return to the lodge, dine then stay for overnight.
Day 6: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, you will engage in a morning canoe ride to some of the Islands on Lake Kivu not leaving out the Famous Nyamirundi Island the well-known for its tasty Coffee. After your driver/guide shall return you back the lodge for a lunch break refreshment. After lunch you will head back on the road and set off to Akagera National Park in the north of Rwanda at the Tanzanian border, taking you through the beautiful hilly countryside. Reaching just in time for lunch and later proceed with an amazing afternoon game drive, looking out for elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes as well as the newly reintroduced lions. After proceeding back to the lodge for dine and overnight stay.
Day 7: Morning Game Drive And Lake Ihema Safari Boat Cruise
Today, you will rise up a bit early grab your morning coffee and breakfast, head out and meet up with your driver/guide who will take you on the morning game drive and proceed with an amazing drive to the northern part of the park and there expect to sight the early risers before they head to their hide outs or even engage in their days’ hunts. Later, in the afternoon, you have will board on an amazing safari boat ride on Lake Ihema which will reward you with aquatic wildlife species like the hippopotami, crocodiles, buffaloes among others as well as the various bird species.
Day 8: Hot Air Balloon And Evening Game Drive
Wake up very early in the morning and head to the take-off area in kayitaba area of the park where you will be welcomed by staff who will take you through a briefing session as you watch how they prepares the hot air balloon as you enjoy an early morning coffee and a snack after, you will be invited into the basket and the flight will be started. During the flight you will have exceptional views of the park as you watch the different herds of animals, unique water sources as you also take pictures for an amazing experience. After the experience you will be rewarded a certificate as appreciation for your participation in the activity. After your experience, your driver/guide will drive back to the lodge for lunch. After you shall proceed back in the jangle for the amazing evening game drive to sight the great anticipation of seeing the different animals like buffaloes, elephants, lions, giraffes and among other park wildlife animals on their daily surviving behaviors to graze and predators looking for their hunt to kill. After the game drive, return to connect your driver/guide again who will driver back to lodge for relaxation, dine and stay for overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On waking up this morning you will have breakfast and later catch up with your driver/guide and hit the road for your transfer to Volcanoes National Park, in the north-west of Rwanda in Musanze province. En- route enjoy the spectacular scenery views of the countryside. Later Dine and rest for overnight at your lodge.
Day 10: Mountain Gorilla Tracking and Visit Iby’wacu Cultural Center
Have breakfast and head for the Kinigi Park offices by 7:00AM; just in time for the morning briefing on the code3 of conduct when trekking for the mountain gorillas. After locating the creatures, take clear observation of their behavior while taking photographs and videos for this wonderful encounter. Later retrieve the starting point, meet up your guide for a drive back to your lodge. After Lunch, step out for a visit to the Iby’wacu Cultural Village where you will learn more about the Rwandan cultural practices.
Later, Dine and rest for overnight at the lodge.
Day 11: Golden Monkeys and Visit Dian Fossey Hike and Visit the Twin Lakes- Burera and Ruhondo
Have breakfast and retrieve to the Kinigi Park offices by 7:00AM; just in time for the morning briefing on the code of conduct when tracking for the shy and playful golden monkeys. After locating the jumpy creatures, take clear observation of their behavior’s while taking photographs and videos for this wonderful life experience encounter. Later retrieve back to the starting point, meet up with your tour guide/driver for drive back to your lodge for refreshment and lunch. Later after lunch you will take a guided walk to the beautiful Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. After the experience your driver/guide will return you to at your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12: Full Day Hiking Mountain Bisoke and Mountain Muhabura
Today, you will be driven to the park headquarter at Kinigi at 7:00 am upon having your breakfast for briefing and you will later head off for hiking. The hike will typically take a full day from 6 to 8 hours depending on your hiking experience. During the climb, you will cross a series of different vegetation habitats starting with bamboo forests, then moving into Hagenia – Hypericum forest and finally moving through Senecio – Lobelia bush near the summit. You will carry your packed lunch with you and some energy drink as well. You will later return back to your lodge in the afternoon for a break. Later after you shall proceed catch up with your driver/guide who will be drive you again to the park headquarter at Kinigi, for briefing and you will later head off for hiking experience again. The hike will typically take 2-5 hours depending on your hiking experience. You will head off with you packed water and snacks. You need to be in good shape, however the hiking is not much strenuous as other mountains, though challenging as well. On the summit, you will be able to see the Crater Lake which is on the top of the Muhabura Mountain. You will later descend for an overnight. Dinner and overnight at your lodge
Day 13: Transfer to Gishwati Mukura National Park
After breakfast, our driver/guide will pick. And you will leave Volcanoes National Par. During the journey, which will take about 3 hours, you will enjoy the spectacular sight of landscapes and panoramic views. Upon arrival in the Forest Park, you will start the Primate Tracking, that will give you the opportunity to encounter five different primate species, first and foremost, of course, the chimpanzees, our closest relatives! During your hike through the dense forest, you will learn about their whole life in the wilderness, either ground walking or in branches of trees, resting, jumping and even feeding. After this intense experience, you will return back at the lodge, for lunch break at your accommodation. In the afternoon you will have again another opportunity to do one of many opti community-based-activities. You can either visit a farm or a tea plantation, learn about beekeeping or handcraft making or experience cultural dances and traditional healing. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 14: Chimpanzee Trekking/ Habituation
Day 13: Chimpanzee Trekking On this day in the morning you will grab a quick and early breakfast at your lodge or hotel, thereafter you will meet up with your driver/guide to head out to Gishwati-Mukura National Park for the Chimpanzee Tracking. Arrive at the briefing point and get assigned for a ranger guide and enter the forest. While on the track you will hear and see these playful creatures swinging from one tree branch to another and explorer the forest meanwhile after this experience you will take off some time and have an option visit to the local communities to engage in some of their cultural activities. After you will head back to the lodge for lunch and time to relax while enjoying the sun and the breeze, some swimming or just reading a book. Grab dinner and stay overnight.
Day 15: Explorer the Congo_Nile_Trail
After an early breakfast, on your 4th day of adventure, you begin with a hike on Congo-Nile-Trail It is the best way to experience Rwanda’s natural beauty and the clean air. The trail passes through stunningly beautiful sceneries and little villages, offerings panoramic views. This near-natural-adventure can be combined with some cultural insights, visiting a tea or coffee plantation. When your legs are tired and the most beautiful views are captured forever for a life time experience, your driver/guide will transfer you back to your lodge for refreshment, dinner and another overnight stay.
Day 16: Transfer to Kigali City
In the morning after breakfast, check-out of the lodge and embark on your journey to Rwanda’s capital Kigali city. With En-route stop in Butare to visit Nyazi king’s palace, Rwanda National Museum and the Butare genocide memorial museum, you will have another En-route lunch break and proceed to Kigali city or connect you at the Kigali International Airport. Or you will be dropped off at your hotel/lodge or at any place of your inconvenience After the breakfast, check out in time then you will embark on your journey to Kampala and Entebbe or to the agreed drop off location in the city, on the journey route you will pass by the equator where you will have a coffee, tea or a warm/cold drink break and amazing pictures. After then you will proceed to the end of this adventure tour.
