A 5-days expedition adventure safari in Rwanda offers a condensed yet exciting itinerary, combining wildlife encounters, cultural experiences, and stunning landscapes. This package is a perfect adventure that will take you through the famous Volcanoes National Park in the north-western part of Rwanda. The safari will as well give you an opportunity to explore the whole Virunga National Park, track the endangered primates which are mountain gorillas and golden monkeys found nowhere else in Rwanda but in this park. The safari will also give you an opportunity to sight different Virunga mountains although you will specifically hike Bisoke mountain to the summit where you will see the crater lake and have a spectacular view of the surrounding and as well as to visit the amazing lake Kivu for relaxation

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On the first day of your Rwanda safari, you will be welcomed by our English-speaking driver/guide who will brief you about this safari and then will drive you through short Kigali city tour. While doing the Kigali city tour, you will visit several tourism places like the Inema Art Centre, Kirimonko market, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre that was opened up after the 1994 Rwanda genocide. Meanwhile, you will go for the city tour of hotel Rwanda, around after which you will start on your journey to Volcanoes National Park where you will check in your lodge upon arrival for evening relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
On this you will wake very early in the morning have your breakfast, and then meet up with your driver/guide who will be ready to transfer you to Kinigi park headquarters where briefing is done. At the briefing Centre, park rangers/guide will lead you and other trackers about the rules and regulations of the tracking activity, you will get in grouped with an armed park ranger/guides will be given to you to lead you to the jungle. While in the jungle searching for the endangered mountain gorillas, you will meet different park animals like elephants, buffaloes, duikers, giant forest hogs, several primates, and different bird species. Once you set your eyes on mountain gorillas, you will be allowed to be around them for 1 hour as you watch them do daily activities, learn about their behaviors, and take photos. After spending time with mountain gorillas of volcanoes, you will track out of the jungle, thereafter, meet your driver/guide at the starting point ready to drive you back to the lodge for lunch, an evening relaxation or natural walk, dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Trekking Golden Monkeys and Visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
On the third day of your Rwanda Safari, you will wake up early to a morning breakfast and thereafter you will meet up with your driver/guide for a transfer to the park headquarters where briefing is done before heading out to the jungle to look for these endangered apes. At the briefing point, the park ranger/guides will teach you about the rules and regulations of the tracking activity after which you will be paired with armed ranger/guides who will lead you to the jungle as you search for these endangered apes. As you look for the golden monkeys in different parts of the park, you will meet with different park animals such as duikers, elephants, giant forest hogs, buffaloes, monkeys, and different bird species. Once you have spotted the golden monkeys, you will be given one hour to be around these golden monkeys, and during the period given you are able to learn about their habits, watch them do daily activities, and take photos. After spending 1 hour with the golden monkeys, you will head back out of the forest and meet your driver-guide ready to take you for lunch at your lodge, and when you are done you will drive to the Iby’Iwacu cultural village where you will meet different local people, get to see them do day to day activities, learn how they make handicrafts, taste their local food and get entertainment from local traditional dancers. Accommodation- relaxation and overnight stay will be at your booked lodge.
Day 4: Hike Mountain Bisoke
Hiking mountain Bisoke will be done on the 4th day of your safari to Volcanoes National Park. You will wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast, and then get driven to the briefing point where you will meet other hikers for a briefing. In the briefing, you will be taught about the rules of hiking Mountain Bisoke, and thereafter you will pick your walking stick and follow your armed ranger guide to the way taking you to the summit of the mountain. The journey to the summit of Mount Bisoke takes about 4 hours and during the hiking, you will be able to meet different first animals like the elephant, giant forest hogs, hyenas, duikers, monkeys’ species, and different birds. The hike to the summit of Bisoke takes you through different vegetation covers and on reaching the summit you will have spectacular views of the crater lake at the summit, some of Virunga volcanoes, and the volcanoes national park. You will be able to take photos and you will have a picnic lunch before descending to meet your driver for a transfer to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer and Explorer Lake Kivu
On the fourth day of your 6 days volcanoes national park safari, you will wake up, have a morning breakfast and then meet your driver who will transfer you to Lake Kivu. On this day you will spend the whole day at Lake Kivu that is the largest in Rwanda and you will have a boat cruise as well as relax at the shores of the lake enjoying the boat cruise. During the boat cruise you will encounter different water animals like the hippos, crocodiles, then the birds such as African pied wagtail, spotted yellow-throated greenbul, bronzed sunbirds, and common kestrel among others. Return to the lodge, get dinner, and have an overnight stay.
Day 6: Departure To Kigali City
On the last day of your 6 Days Volcanoes Primate Trekking And Bisoke Hike, you will wake up and have a morning breakfast, check out the lodge, and meet your driver ready to transfer you back to Kigali where he will drop you off at a hotel of your choice or Kigali international airport for your safari back home.
