A 7-days chimpanzee habituation and bird-watching safari in Uganda offers a unique opportunity to witness the fascinating behaviour of chimpanzees and explore the diverse birdlife in the country. These Seven Days of Birding in Uganda will make your holiday/ vacation one to remember by visiting the chimpanzee habituation experience and Bird watching tour is one of the top traveler destinations in the world. You will spend sufficient time with the chimpanzees at Kibale Forest National Park while enjoying the birding experience and exploring the Semuliki National Park. Other activities in this package list include game viewing, a Kampala city tour, photography, and a guided nature walk among other optional activities. We will pick you up on the first day of the trip and drop you off in the very last hours of the trip.
This itinerary focuses on chimpanzee habituation in Kibale Forest National Park and combines it with bird watching and wildlife viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Uganda is a birdwatcher’s paradise, and both Kibale and Queen Elizabeth offer excellent opportunities for birding. Please note that chimpanzee habituation permits are limited, so it’s essential to secure them well in advance.

Day 1: Pick-Up And Kampala City Tour
At our agreed time and point, Our driver/guide will pick you up and brief you about this trip summary details covering the country’s laws, and optional activities for you to choose from and respond to your questions and concerns. If time allows, you will have a Lip-smacking local lunch meal, followed by a remarkable city tour around Uganda’s oldest and most magnificent city- Kampala city. Among the destinations to be visited include the museum; including the country’s cultural and historical artefacts, Ugandan monuments and the local markets among others.
Day 2: Early Morning Transfer To Kibale Forest National Park
At the morning sunrise, you will grab a special local-made breakfast meal, then check out from the Hotel Lodge for a remarkable 6-7 hours’ drive to Kibale Forest National Park, Africa’s primate world Pack, with over 13 rare primate species, dominated by Chimpanzees. Your driver/guide will offer you an amazing view of the captivating landscape, green vegetation and breathtaking views. There will be an en-route stopover for refreshing and lunch meal, then before arriving at the reserved lodge late in the evening for relaxing, dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park-Chimpanzee Habituation
After the breakfast meal at the lodge, you will depart early in the morning to the park headquarters for a pre-trekking briefing which starts at approximately 8 am for about 30 minutes, before entering the Jungle. According to your trekking speed and the direction these creatures have taken, the quest for your closest relatives the chimpanzees is truly exciting, and 4 hours of habituation is unforgettable. Habituation grants you an opportunity of having an intimate relationship with the chimps, and their sounds, uncover their attributes and admire their appearance. Chimpanzees are human’s closest relatives with over 98% DNA and human-like attributes.
Day 4: Full Day Birding In Kibale Forest National Park And Bigodi Swamp Trail
After enjoying a peaceful breakfast, you will pick up your packed lunch and head out for a full-day birding experience at the Lush Jungle of Kibale Forest National Park. On the tree branches, through the sky, and in the nest, the sweet melodies and colours of several species of birds manifest and the eyes are left with no option but to capture every detail of the bird parading on sight. More than 350 bird species have been recorded here at the Kibale National Park like the blue-headed bee-eater, masked Apalis, Cassin’s spine tail, Nathan’s francolin and many more. After about 4-6 hours of birding, you will have a lunch break, and then the rest of the day will be spent on natural walking and searching for birds at Bigodi Swamp, home to over 50 unique bird species. After this long day, you will head back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer To Semuliki National Park-Sempaya Hot Springs And Game Drive
After enjoying your breakfast with a cup of grounded coffee, you will depart the lodge for one of the finest destinations in Uganda home to a variety of bird species, mammals and geographical features among others. From Kibale to Semuliki National Park, a very captivating landscape, with green vegetation. There you will have a tasty local made lunch, followed by a great evening at the Sempaya hot springs, where a majority of Birds species such as the Ruwenzori Turaco and many more call who calls it home. Then after you will have a night game drive for approximately 2-3 hours before retiring for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 6:Full Day Birding Expedition
At the beginning of this day trip, you will grab your breakfast, then you will join your expert driver/guide for 4-6 hours of birding experience at the designated birding areas in the park. 40% of Uganda’s rare bird species call Semuliki National Park their home, thus making it one of the birding paradises in Uganda. 46 Guinea-Congo biome species, white-crested Hornbill, yellow-throated cuckoo, red-billed Dwarf Hornbill, and the Black-Casqued wattle Hornbill. After the search, then you will proceed to the lodge for lunch, followed by an optional game drive in the evening. After then you will end off this day with dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 7: Transfer Back To Entebbe Airport Or Kampala City
After breakfast and enjoying the amazing moments in the different destinations across western Uganda, you will check out of the lodge, you will have an amazing journey of 6-7 hours’ drive to Kampala or Entebbe/Airport for your flight, but with an en-route stopover for lunch and photography at the equator. Or you will be dropped off at your hotel/lodge or at any place of your inconvenience.
