Below is the proposed itinerary for this gorilla trekking and wildlife safari tour. The safari will start and end in Kigali. This safari will provide you with a lifetime memorable experience while tracking the endangered Mountain Gorilla tracking. The tracking will start with a briefing about the activity at the Volcanoes National Park headquarters, you are then dropped at the tracking starting point guided by the park rangers/guides. Once you find the mountain gorilla, you will be allowed to spend at least one hour with them watching them take care of the young ones, feeding them and combing their hair.

Day 1: Arrival Pick-Up at Kigali and Optional City Tour
On you first day of Rwanda safari, you will explore with us one of the safest and cleanest cities in Africa depending on your arrival. In the morning after breakfast, your trip will start with a warm welcome by our tour driver/guides, who will be ready to show you around, just according to your wishes. The driver/guide will lead you to a must-see places and real insider spots. After some delicious snacks, your driver/guide will transfer you to Gizosi to visit the Genocide Memorial, a grim reminder of a senseless massacre of innocents lives in 1994. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide and how Rwanda has dealt with that past. We shall proceed with our tour and see the new developments in Rwanda. After lunch at one of the best restaurants in town, you can explore vibrant market scenes, some boutiques of the up-coming Kigali fashion scene, or an Art Gallery. On this first day you will already familiarize yourself with the diversity of this thriving country. After the day depending on your flexibility for Kigali night tour, our driver/guide will lead you back to your hotel or lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel/lodge in Kigali by your driver/guide and embark on a 2 hours’ drive adventure journey to Akagera National Park on the Tanzania border. Up-on you arrive will check in at game lodge in the park, have lunch and then relax. In the afternoon you will go on the game drive for wildlife viewing and later return in the late afternoon before sunset for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Safari Boat Cruise
Wake up so early for your breakfast and proceed for a morning game drive to catch up with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. The game drive will reward you with chances to see a variety elephant, buffaloes, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, orbit, Topi, bush baby, leopard and bushbuck among others. Later return to the Lodge for late breakfast and relax as well as you wait for your lunch. Later in the afternoon you head to the lake and enjoy the safari Boat Cruise ride on Lake Ihema, which will reward you with large number of hippos, huge Nile crocodiles and about 525 bird species. Thereafter your driver/guide will lead you back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Musanze Town
On this morning you will Wake up very early in the morning, have your breakfast and your driver/guide will drive you back to Kigali as you arrive in the city you will have an optional visit to genocide memorial, have lunch in Kigali and then afterwards proceed to Ruhengeri in the northern part of Rwanda’s Musanze district. This drive will take you through the undulating hills of Rwanda. You will reach in the evening and check in at the booked lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
On this day you will Rise up very early in the morning and have breakfast and thereafter proceed to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze district. Head straight to the park offices for briefing about the gorilla tracking and allocation of Gorilla groups and guides. Thereafter get into the tropical rain forest and search for the mountain gorilla tracking lead by a park ranger/guide, starting from where they were the previous day until you find them. You will find them doing their daily chores of feeding their young ones, climbing trees and others just relaxing. Take your best photographs having switched off your flash. This whole exercise takes a maximum of 1 hour and then return to the park offices for your gorilla tracking certificate. Meet up with your driver/guide who will lead you back to your lodge for lunch break and some relaxation. Then in the evening visit the Diane Fossey center and see where she was buried after being killed by the hunters of mountain gorillas in the mist. From here you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Visit Karisoke Research Centre and Guided City Tour
Wake up so early in the morning and have your fast breakfast. Together with packed lunch and head out to go on a cultural and historic tour beginning with the Dian Fossey grave situated at Karisoke research center where she spent over twenty years studying about mountain gorillas until she was killed by the poachers. On the way to and from Karisoke, through the volcanic peaks of Karisimbi and Bisoke, you will encounter a lot of wildlife, on this day we will also do Musanze city tour so as to learn more about the city of Musanze. This track will consume a whole day and then return in the evening to your lodge for lunch, relaxation and dinner as well as staying overnight.
Day 7: Second Full Day Trekking Gorilla
Have your early morning breakfast and assemble again at the park head offices. You can visit a different Gorilla group or go back for the previous group. Relax in the afternoon as we wait for Cocktails, have dinner with Veterinarians from the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project, and acknowledge us about ongoing efforts to protect the Mountain Gorillas. Thereafter you will return in the evening to your lodge for relaxation and dinner as well as staying overnight.
Day 8: Departure to Kigali City-Rwanda’s Capital
On your last day of Rwanda Gorilla Tracking and Wildlife safari tour, on this day you will have a nice relaxed final morning breakfast, reflect back upon the adventures of your past days, and pack your belongings and proceed to check-out. Depending on your flight schedules you may have lunch at the Lodge and then depart for Kigali for your return flight. Or you will be dropped off at your hotel/lodge or at any place of your inconvenience.
